What to do in Cabanas de Tavira Algarve ?

Boat Rides at Ria Formosa Natural Park
The Ria Formosa Natural Park has been voted one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal not only for its unique location but because of the sheer variety of landscapes and wildlife. The rare coastal lagoon constantly changes with tides, wind and water currents. The area is home to one of the largest seahorse populations in the world and is a bird watcher’s paradise. There are many local boat trips that will cruise through the water channels out to the fishing villages on the barrier islands, the beaches and around the lagoon to see the flora and fauna of this spectacular natural park.

Dolphin Watching
Nobody can resist the lure of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat. This delightful experience at sea will allow the visitor to experience the behaviours of bottle nose and common dolphins in their natural environment. From time to time, ocean turtles, flying fish and sunfish can be seen.

Sea Fishing
A fabulous experience is to try your luck at sea fishing from one of the fishing boats that will take you to the best fishing spots. Look forward to catching pollock, mackerel, snapper, garfish, hogfish, and black sea-bream.

Water Sports
Cabanas de Tavira offers a wide variety of water sports to be enjoyed by all the family. Everyone will have fun on the water ring rides being towed along in the sea by a fast boat. For beginners and more experienced enthusiasts there is kite surfing, paddle boarding, sailing, surfing and windsurfing.

Cabanas de Tavira Island and Beach
The beach is located in front of the village of Cabanas de Tavira, and is accessible by a short boat ride. The beach has full facilities and services for anyone spending time there including bars and toilets. The beach is supervised in high season. A ferry ride across the Ria Formosa drops visitors off on the beach in less than two minutes and the boats run back and forth every couple of minutes during the day.

Cabanas de Tavira Avenue and Local Attractions
The Avenida runs the length of the lagoon and is home to numerous restaurants, cafes and bars where the visitor can stop for coffee, a glass of wine or a meal while sitting outdoors enjoying the beautiful water side views. Sunset watching is very popular and there is nothing nicer to round off a day on the beach than to sit with a cool drink and watch the spectacular colours as day turns into night.

The charm of Cabanas de Tavira is always present and each little progress along the way reveals another wonderful restaurant or shop selling handmade crafts from the region.
