What to do ? | Altura

Enjoy the extensive sandy beach of Praia da Alagoa and take a dive in its tasty waters

The small village of Altura follows the extensive sandy beach of Alagoa as well as its wide dune cord, with raised walkways that allow access to various points of the sand, as well as observing the differentiation of the dune vegetation from the interior to the sea front.

From the inside of its dunes, the vegetation rises above its height and the typical “piorno-branco” pear bushes appear in them, which provide some shade and visual comfort to the hot and luminous environment in the summer season. Next to the sea, where the dune rises, there are plenty of “estornos”, “cardo-maritimo”, fluffy “cordeirinho-das-praias” and the showy “narciso-das-areias”.

The sand is immense, as far as the eye can see, and the sea is calm and warm. Looking to the east, the vegetation that frames the sand becomes denser, with the village of Monte Gordo being seen among the coastal pine forests.
